This was some pretty seriously cool stuff. Basically, we lived on a beautiful wooden fishing boat (with our own private bunk, bathroom, shower and all that good stuff) that took us around the islands of Kvarner Bay and northern Dalmatia. The boat would feed us breakfast, then drop us off on the island with our bikes. We’d bike half-way across the island, where the boat would meet us and feed us lunch. Then we’d finish up the island and meet the boat for dinner. I adore sleeping on a boat…
We started in Omišalj and went counter-clockwise, biking between 20 and 40 miles per day, stopping often for ice cream and beer. The water was crazy-beautiful, but unfortunately, too cold to swim in. But that’s okay, ‘cause it was phenomenally beautiful to bike around!
Next year, we’re going to the Dalmatian islands a little later in the season, where the night life is a bit wilder, and the water‘s a bit warmer, and you’re coming with us! Waddaya think of that!?
